The structuring and capital strategy side of consulting.

Your Funding Optimization Firm

We’re not lenders, and we’re not general consultants. PEAK Global Capital is a capital structuring firm—the financial arm of what management consulting aspires to do. We research, model, and advocate for capital stacks that most sponsors never even know are possible. By blending public financing tools, private credit, equity, and tax credit strategies, we don’t just connect you to funding—we build the case for the right capital.

This is Our Story

PEAK began as PEAK Impact Capital, driven by the belief that deals should generate both returns and community benefit. As we grew, sponsors showed us what they truly needed: not introductions, but structures—ideas tested against legislation, supported by credit enhancements, and tailored to win lender approvals.

Today, we bring that structuring expertise to projects across North America and the Caribbean, with an expanding reach into Europe and Asia. We didn’t chase global markets—companies and project owners have found us and asked us to step in. If a project makes sense, we follow it. Our role is not limited by geography—it’s guided by opportunity and the strength of our network.

And because every transaction has multiple stakeholders, we focus on making deals healthier. That means credit enhancements for lenders, optimized returns for investors, flexibility for sponsors, and clear benefit for communities. Everyone has to eat—and our role is to balance the table.

Meet Our Founder: Jason Thompson

Jason Thompson leads PEAK Global Capital as a specialized financing strategist, structuring complex capital solutions for real estate developers, business owners, and investors. His approach blends private market experience with a career-long familiarity with public financing programs. Early in his career, as an underwriter for the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority, Jason worked on affordable housing projects, LIHTC, New Markets Tax Credits, and SBA loans. That foundation shaped his conviction that public programs could and should be paired with private capital to deliver stronger outcomes.

Years later, as Director of Credit at Angel Oak Capital, he originated bridge and mezzanine loans, and later underwrote CPACE financings for Forbright Bank as it launched its ESG platform. Public tools and private capital were never separate in his mind—they were always two sides of the same structuring puzzle. That perspective has guided PEAK’s evolution.

The firm expanded globally when Jason’s network asked him to bring that structuring lens abroad—starting with Viceroy Bahamas, a Toronto-based sponsor backed by Viceroy Bali (a five-star boutique resort recognized with global hospitality awards). Today, PEAK is not only sourcing opportunities but also bringing in partners to unlock tax credit advantages and expand its reach across geographies and capital markets.

Jason’s approach also has a personal twist. His fiancée is an attorney, and since COVID they’ve both worked from their respective home offices. Watching her prepare legal cases sparked the idea of treating financing the same way—building and presenting capital stacks like cases to be argued. Jason admits she might actually be the real boss in all of this (and he’s only half joking).

At its core, PEAK’s work is about structuring deals that hold up under scrutiny, balance the needs of all stakeholders, and unlock capital that others overlook.

Inside the PEAK Method™

Where strategy meets structure

The PEAK Method wasn’t built in theory—it came from the trenches. Jason started his career underwriting public financing programs like LIHTC, New Markets Tax Credits, and SBA loans. Later, as Director of Credit at Angel Oak Capital, he originated bridge and mezzanine loans, and at Forbright Bank, he underwrote CPACE deals as they launched their ESG platform.

Those experiences proved one thing: every transaction is different, but every successful deal follows a disciplined process. That’s why PEAK Global Capital runs every project through the PEAK Method—a structured approach that combines vision, engagement, mapping, refinement, alignment, and execution.

Step 1: Vision Brief

Every deal begins with clarity. We don’t just ask how much capital you need—we start with your endgame. Is this project headed toward refinance, sale, stabilization, or recapitalization? By defining what success looks like upfront, we identify the metrics and impact targets that will shape the financing. This step transforms capital raising from a transaction into a roadmap.

Step 2: Strategic Engagement

Deals succeed or fail on alignment. From the outset, we engage with sponsors, stakeholders, and capital partners, making sure everyone is rowing in the same direction. By anticipating lender expectations and sponsor needs early, we save months of wasted time and build credibility before a term sheet is ever issued.

Step 3: Capital Mapping

Most firms chase the same “usual suspect” lenders. We don’t. Our approach maps out the entire landscape of options—public programs, tax credits, improvement charges, private debt, equity, alternative lenders, and hybrids. We cross-compare these paths like a lawyer preparing multiple case strategies, so no viable structure is left unexplored.

Step 4: Design & Refinement

Here is where the art meets the math. We build the capital stack and then run it through stress tests, sensitivities, and credit enhancements to make it healthier. Can we add an insurance wrap to strengthen the rating? Can we layer in tax credits to lower cost? Can we balance public dollars with private equity to align incentives? Design isn’t a one-off—it’s a refinement process that makes the structure more resilient.

We don’t always replace the capital you’ve already secured — often, we strengthen it. Think of us as the grout that holds the bricks together. We’ll reinforce your stack, optimize what’s in place, and only place new bricks when the structure calls for it.

Step 5: Presentation & Alignment

Capital providers don’t just want numbers—they want a case. We present the deal in a way that speaks their language, anticipating objections and aligning every party: sponsors, investors, and lenders. By the time it hits the credit committee, the questions are already answered.

By proactively addressing final conditions and structuring, we minimize closing risks and prepare for a seamless funding process.

Step 6: Execution & Stewardship

Closing is just the start. We manage the funding process with precision—term sheets, documentation, compliance—but we also stay on as a steward. Our job is to make sure obligations are met, reputations are strengthened, and relationships last. Because in structured finance, one good deal isn’t the end goal—it’s the beginning of a pipeline.

Impact Beyond Returns & Our True Values

At PEAK, we believe capital should strengthen more than balance sheets — it should strengthen communities. We align ourselves with the principles of Conscious Capitalism, where business is a force for good and success is measured by impact as well as returns.

To make that commitment tangible, we’ve dedicated a role within our firm to a Charitable Liaison. Their task is to identify organizations and initiatives that deserve support, ensuring a portion of our success flows directly back into causes that matter — whether local, global, or client-connected.

For us, structured finance isn’t just about stacking capital — it’s about building ecosystems where sponsors, investors, lenders, and communities all thrive.
